First Peas to the Table

First Peas to the TableSecond grade students thoroughly enjoyed their visit from Mrs. Betty Metts of Georgia Farm Bureau yesterday. Mrs. Metts read students the book First Peas to the Table by Susan Grigsby and spoke to each class about planting a garden and the importance of agriculture. As part of a grant provided by Georgia Farm Bureau, each second grade class has a raised bed garden that students will plant and take care of this Spring as they learn about plant life cycles in science. After their visit from Mrs. Metts, each participating student planted pea seeds as part of our ICES "First Peas to the Table" competition.
‚ÄčThank you Mrs. Metts and Georgia Farm Bureau for the donation of your time and money to make this project possible. The students are very excited about growing their gardens!
