Congratulations to Ms. Cindy Sutton, fourth grade teacher at ICES, on being named System-Wide Teacher of the Year for the Irwin County School District. Ms. Sutton was honored at the regular Board of Education meeting last night and also received a surprise visit from her daughter Ashley, who drove for 6 hours yesterday to surprise her mom.
Ms. Sutton will retire at the end of the 17-18 school year with 30 total years of service to the state of Georgia, 25 of which have been as a teacher at Irwin County Elementary School. She also has another daughter, Shelby. Congratulations, Ms. Sutton! The ICES staff and faculty love you!

MAKE THE CALL AND STOP VIOLENCE IN YOUR SCHOOL
The 1-877-SAY-STOP toll- free hotline was created by the Georgia Department of Education. Students can anonymously report anyone who has a weapon, has threatened to bring a weapon to school, or has violated any other school safety rules. The hotline hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after 5 p.m. all calls will be forwarded to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Callers will not be asked to reveal their identities.
